So there’s more to a Kitchen Nightmares restaurant closing than just bad ownership. The restaurants participating are already in the red when filming and can’t survive for a few more months and the episode often doesn’t air until a few months after the filming wraps up. At that point, it’s often too late. You also have to take outside variables into account. In the British version of Kitchen Nightmares, there was a Soul Food restaurant that had great food and a nice owner. The problems were mostly financial and bad inventory management. After the episode aired, it seemed like they would survive but then the worldwide recession happened and they had to close down. In the end, I don’t think Kitchen Nightmares has much of an effect on whether these restaurants fail or not.번역 보기

It 100% comes down to what those restaurants do with the opportunity. The problem with the data that I think people often overlook is that the restaurants featured on the show were all inches from shutdown before the kitchen nightmares episode- The data begins with a baseline 100% failure rate. 0% success. If they were already successful, They wouldn't have been featured on the show. If they were just middling or a little in the red, They wouldn't have been featured on the show. So, Starting with a 0% success rate, To have turned 30% of those around enough to become a success is impressive. Without the show, That 30% would've been shut down too. As for the other 70%, A LOT of those failures post-show were from 1: The owner deciding to just get out of the game and selling it off to someone else who screwed things up, and 2: The moment the show wasn't involved they enjoyed a period of success then backslid right back into old behaviors. Which goes back to 'what the restaurant does with the opportunity'.번역 보기
