About 65 years ago Dad and I were back pretty far in the Allegheny National forest, he downed a nice buck, and by the time we got it cleaned and ready to go it was dark, I mean dark! I was young and most uncomfortable, he built a fire and cut the back straps out of his buck and he cooked it over the fire. A spit and a little bit of salt from a bag of chips I had. And it was the best meat I have ever eaten. We spent the night on that ridge around the fire and got out in the morning,,, ya brought back a memory I haven't thought of in a very long time.
