Could have done an entire episode on the Mormon church land holdings across the globe. Everything from farmland growing fruits, vegetables, sugar cane, and feed crops, to the timberland they own, to the cattle ranches and animal farms (and how all of that stuff is sold into the commercial systems of grocery stores, restaurants, prison and school cafeterias, hotels and cruise ships, and timber into the building industry, and the feed crop industry, etc.), to apartment buildings and commercial real estate (including around temples to control neighborhood dynamics/optics, and large apartment complexes in various cities, and office buildings in Manhattan), all the warehouse facilities they own in different countries they lease out to companies like trucking companies, tech companies, Amazon, etc., plus the Hawaiian amusement park (cultural appropriation going on there), Hawaiian hotels, "cultural land" the church owns, including in Vermont, Ohio (the church recently bought the Kirtland "original" Mormon temple and other properties in Ohio), Missouri, Utah (including the land where the Mountain Meadows Massacre occurred), etc., the land they own in Canada, Mexico, Central America, and on every continent. You could go into how much they paid in recent years for various types of real estate - including the midwest farmland, the warehouse facility in Washington State, the warehouse facility in England. Then, there are the mission training centers (Provo and elsewhere), the mission homes, the institutes of religions near many college campuses, the schools the church owns, and then all of the land where the chapels and temples are built on every continent, and on various islands. Plus all the buildings they own in and around Salt Lake City, plus the mountain vault. It's becoming more and more obvious how many companies the church has. In addition to farmland, timberland, publishing, broadcasting, the underwear company, etc. These are in addition to the hundreds of billions in international stock investments.  The SEC scandal helped expose how the church has been hiding billions upon billions upon billions, and tens of billions more. It's been playing financial games for a long, long time – across many generations who have been manipulated into giving money and property to the church. The church has a department that deals with all of the donated homes and other properties left to the church by people who thought it would be better for the church to get the property, rather than their family members who left the church or who were not members. Some view what goes on with temple workers as a grooming process to get them to leave part - or all - of their estate to the church. On my mission – as we were essentially living in poverty – we were under the impression that the church was frugal, the church leaders didn't get paid, and all the tithing and fast offering went to running the church facilities, and to helping the poor. We were telling that to people. Boy, were we mislead, and deceived... and coerced into working for free as recruiters for the church to find more people willing to join, and to commit to giving the church 10% of their income. As the church built its wealth, investing in land and companies and an international stock portfolio so large a huge staff is running it. The church has incredibly VAST wealth, spread throughout the world.  As missionaries for the Mormon org "church," we were living in poverty apartments with scant furniture as we worked seven days per week for the church within the borders we were assigned to, with someone – "a companion" – we were with 24-7 and who we were told we had to sleep in the same bedroom with. We were to never be alone, other than bathroom breaks. During our missions, we were not to attend college, or go on dates, or swim, or dance, or dress in anything but conservative clothing with a white shirt and tie and our hair cut short. We were to shave every day. We, could not hang out with friends, or go to a gym, or attend any concerts, or go to the movies, or watch TV, or listen to non-church music, or read any non-church books or literature, and were not to read magazines or the newspaper, or listen to the radio. It was full commitment to the cause of finding people to join the church, who were to agree to pay money to the church for the rest of their lives. After those two years, we were to get married's have children, and raise them in the church under "the covenant" promising us we would be an "eternal family," if we obeyed. We were to have complete trust in the church leaders, and to never question or doubt them. We were manipulated and used by an international grifting org that has a strong history of racism, sexism, and homophobia, and a toxic patriarchy ruling over women who are to be submissive to their man. The Mormon church is an organization with a long history of covering up domestic violence and child abuse, and a law firm to help deal with it. How much money is swirling inside the BYU systems, including facilities, infrastructure, maintenance, landscaping, transpo fleet, I.T., communications, security, investments, donations, salaries, contracts, tuition payments, broadcasting, publishing, merch... and football? As BYU continues to expand. How much money is filtered into BYU from other countries (IYKYK)? It is easy to assume the church is worth far north of $400 billion.  But, sure, pay your tithing, and give a "generous monthly fast offering" so you stay "in good standing" so you can attend the temple, and so you aren't endangering your family covenant, and will make it to the cartoonish Celestial Kingdom heavenly theme park – where men can have many wives, and women can have one husband. Or, realize the church has and continues to lie, the Book of Mormon is a piece of 1800s fiction filled with anachronisms, outlandish claims, and antiquated superheroes, and the book was produced by a scoundrel who married dozens of women and scammed many people out of their money.  The church is a global grifting org worth several hundred billion dollars. It doesn't need your money. Stop letting it manipulate you. Know you would be better off putting at least 10% of your money every month into your own diverse investment account, including 1) an index fund, 2) a personal 401(k), and 3) an IRA. Also, have a life insurance plan, and long-term care insurance. Look out for yourself.  The church is nothing more than a club built on falsehoods, and presents a revised history of itself to mislead, deceive, and grift. Don't give it another penny.번역 보기

"A corporation masquerading as a church." As almost all of the stories presented in this podcast have illustrated, this increasingly appears to be a very concise and accurate description of the Church in modern times. With regard to the land holdings and especially the residential community development properties (such as the Aurora, CO land), one thing to watch for will be whether the Church (through Property Reserve) will follow one of the recent big trends in residential community development...namely, the "build-to-rent" trend, whereby the institutional developers/owners have no intention of facilitating home ownership for residents. The goal is to collect rent from day one and forever after in a wholly owned "residential community". It's easy to see that this is an updated version of the horrible old "company town" situations where workers (for example at a big mining operation) lived and worked in a town owned by one big corporation that controlled everything. Work for the company, shop at the company's stores, rent your housing from the company...and if you complain...well, if you know what's good for you, you will not complain. Similarly the "shrinkflation" of the actual Church (local community/congregation) social aspects also illustrates how the Church is cutting expenses in the very area that is SUPPOSEDLY it's main reason for existing, so that it will feel even LESS pressure to invest any small percentage of its rapidly accumulating hoard of wealth (mostly hidden from view) back to the communities from which it was extracted. Prophet Dallas's insistence that the Church is not supposed to be a "social club" ignores the reality that this has always been the essence of what a church is supposed to be. Of course not a secular, irreligious "social club" ... BUT definitely a social community of like-minded people who share basic beliefs and a common world view as a foundation on which they build a community in support of each other. CHURCHCO is a net-wealth extraction machine. The goal is always to generally invest LESS money back to the local communities and congregations than the amounts EXTRACTED FROM those communities/congregations. The difference between the amounts extracted (including all of the investment potential intrinsic to such amounts) and the amounts invested back (returned in some form)...is precisely where the massive hoard of hundreds of billions in assets comes from. The bigger the difference, the more money that CHURCHCO has to play with out of sight and without accountability. Things like "Road Shows" functioned as activities and entertainment deemed wholesome, healthy and constructive by a SOCIAL COMMUNITY looking for alternatives to more worldly and unwholesome activities and entertainment. According to Prophet Dallas, the "Church" has no business supporting such local social community activities (because such things would be like "social club" activities). Yep.
