As a teen, I had a relative who was a "Bircher". She told me about number of things they were concerned about back then that I thought were silly but over time I have remembered and watched... the courts, laws, and perversions she warned me about, have slowly become everyday issues we are concerned about now. I'm not saying everything was spot on or that things were not stirred up, but who knows what tides were turned. And maybe ETB 's timing was off...look around at what is happening today...and read and compare the Book of Mormon. It is full of warning for that time and ours...번역 보기

A little historical perspective from someone who discovered his Constitution teachings unintentionally. He stands out big time in church history for everything that he learned about government and the Constitution without seeking it out for himself. He was raised farming and studying the Constitution out of loyalty, not ambition. He received government positions out of talent, not campaign or application, but being asked to take the positions. As a boy, he had a dream of going to the St George vaults to see the records of the Founding Fathers visiting President Woodruff. He dealt with European governments after the war in ways that no other prophet has. He didn't want to be Secretary Of Agriculture. He rejected that the Constitution is what the courts say it is. President Kimball sent him to the vaults of the St. George temple where he did see those records of the Founders. Then, he became the prophet of the bicentennial of the Constitution. He gave us prophecies and exhortations regarding the Constitution that were repeated in 4 different formats, along with all the other apostles speaking on the Constitution. He pushed studying the Book Of Mormon and applying it to our day, including the Constitution principles. The church grew massively under his leadership transitioning into a significantly more global church, making him the last prophet that spoke more directly to Americans. I see his years of leadership as those years of preparing American members to carry out our "...unique responsibility to uphold and defend the United States Constitution and principles of constitutionalism wherever we live." (Defending Our Divinely Inspired Constitution) He gave powerfully clear prophecy about a future need to save the Constitution and how to prepare for it. Again, he stands out even among J. Reuben Clark or President Oaks. He did not actively seek any of it, yet the Lord gave him all these preparations, not worldly training. Surely, this has to be worth acknowledging. Once you've seen it, you can't unsee it. That said, I find it incredibly fulfilling to seek out the teachings of President Oaks and President Clark, and all other past prophets on the subject. A big picture starts to form of what our duties and preparations on the matter are.번역 보기
