I read Bryan Cranston’s tribute to RJ Mitte on Facebook, and this one really hurts. Cranston called him his “sweet son” and mentioned that they had been texting just weeks ago, trying to find time to have lunch. That lunch will never happen. And knowing that RJ died by suicide makes it even more heartbreaking. God, that broke my heart. I have stuttered my entire life, and while cerebral palsy and stuttering are two very different disabilities, I always saw a little of myself in RJ. There is something about watching someone on television who understands what it means to live with a disability you cannot hide. What I loved about him on Breaking Bad was that he was just himself. His disability was there, but it was never all that he was. I think that is why I am taking his death so personally. RJ was a role model for me without ever knowing it. Seeing him on Breaking Bad helped me feel more comfortable being myself. Cranston ended his tribute with “I’ll miss you, son,” and those words have stayed with me. I never met RJ, but he meant a lot to me, and I wish he had gotten more time here. RIP RJ Mitte. You will not be forgotten.번역 보기
