This is exactly how I cook my greens. I don't think Mama Pearline is a real person though.번역 보기

Hello MamaPearline, I was raised in Fayetteville North Carolina by a mother from Mobile, AL. The first thing my mama planted when they got land was collards! She would tell us children “Don’t touch those collards till November; they’re winter food!” I asked her why plant them in the spring/summer? She would say so the sun could make them last longer! Anyway, my mother’s “Pot” of collards would have the entire neighborhood smelling good! My father was raised in north so he didn’t like the soft dumpling cornbread but you better believe we had a whole pan. The second thing my mom planted was peppers and would pickle them in mason jars and place them in the window seal. My mother only used ham hocks (2), one for the greens and the other went to my dad 😊 I’ve since tried the turkey legs and appreciate them both.번역 보기

I was taught to put salt in the cleaning water in-case of worms. That's old school from the garden cooking.번역 보기
