The FIVB always guarantees the host a Finals spot for commercial reasons (ticket sales and TV ratings) but the loophole it creates is terrible coz China hosts, they can’t finish lower than 8th place overall, meaning they are completely immune to relegation no matter how bad they play. It completely ruins the sporting integrity of the tournament and punishes teams like Canada and Bulgaria who actually earn their points. And it’s the exact same story with the women’s VNL—they do the same thing for whichever country buys the hosting rights. At the end of the day, it's all just a commercial business. Any nation could host if they had the budget, but since it's a bidding war, the richest sports federations always win. It’s a joke that china can simply buy their spot into the vnl and not get relegated. But Canada is even though they have this vnl the most exciting games this year. Also taking a spot from a Bulgaria caliber team is ridiculous.번역 보기
