Why is CNN not correcting these panelists? The tariffs on dairy apply only if US dairy products exceed a specific quota, in order to protect the Canadian industry. The quota is high and the tariffs have never actually been engaged, not even once. The US dairy industry exports $1.2 billion annually into the Canadian market without these quota-triggered tariffs applying. These quotas were agreed upon by both sides, as an upper level back stop.
