I think there’s another piece to this besides cruise prices. I’m in the Upper Midwest, and what I’m seeing is that airfare is becoming the real deal breaker for a lot of families. Yes, cruises have been expensive, but when a family has to spend $2,000 to $3,000 just to fly everyone to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Seattle, or another major cruise port, that changes the entire vacation budget. In some cases, the airfare can cost almost as much as the cruise (or more). I think a lot of people are looking at the total trip cost. Airfare. Hotel the night before. Transfers. Baggage fees. Then the cruise itself. At that point, they may decide they simply can’t make the numbers work. For people who live within driving distance of a major cruise port, the picture probably looks very different. But for families in places like Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, the Dakotas, Minnesota, and much of the Midwest, just getting to the ship has become a major part of the cost.번역 보기
