This was how I got started on ducks! Mr Duck was dumped in my yard about 7 years ago. Luckily he got the right home (my yard) and has all the treats, ladies and ponds

Straight run ducklings are for people who are raising their ducks for meat. There are a few rescues that have all-male pens, but not a whole lot. I've rescued many ducks and have run into problems with our local humane society and wildlife officials who don't even know the difference between a wild and domestic ducks themselves. I was once told to re-dump a domestic pair of ducks, but I refused. After arguing with several people, I was finally able to take them to a shelter where they were adopted a few days after the quarentine period.

My last two houses have been near city park ponds and feeding ducks is something I love. Multiple times I've seen people drop off ducks at a pond. The sad reality is they often quickly become food. I did see someone drop off a baby duck that they found in their apartment complex of all places. The baby duck ran straight to the pond and a hen swam over and the baby duck followed her back to a group of ducks that immediately took the baby duck in. That was adorable.
