The way the question is framed does not reflect Singapore's position. The question is not whether pay should be the motivation for public service but that pay should not be a bar to joining politics. If you want to attract the best who are ALREADY earning very high salaries and have already made financial commitments commensurate with their pay. We should expect a discount but not too great a sacrifice. Singapore ministers are paid a 'clean wage'. You don't get a car or even a driver. Or a pension. That's clarity. But the best defence of the high salaries is the progress of the nation and the clean government.번역 보기

What is the point of having a lowly paid pm or ministers like UK that can't even turn it's economy around. That is why you have poor quality politicians only interested for self interest or benefits just for a term instead of long term planning for the country번역 보기

High salary don't prevent corruption. Having too much power in parliament is highly dangerous. Power can be abused.번역 보기
