My brother and I entered a contest when we were kids (I was 12 and he was 11) where we were to write an essay about who our favorite baseball player was. If chosen, we'd get tickets to go see the Mets play at Shea stadium and, before the game, play on the field with Carlos Beltrán. I played third base in little league, so as a Mets fan, I gravitated towards David Wright as my favorite player. My brother played shortstop and (one could probably guess) wrote about José Reyes. We wanted to either both be picked or neither of us be picked so one wouldn't miss out. So in an attempt to get us both picked, my dad put both of our letters in the same envelope. A couple weeks went by and we were both chosen along with about 20 other kids. We got to spend the day with Carlos Beltrán hitting us ground balls and pop-flies but also got to sit and talk to him for a while. He was such a down-to-earth guy and genuinely loved teaching us and playing with us. Citi Field was being built at the time, so it was cool to see both stadiums. The Mets also won that night which was a bonus. I'll never forget that day and Carlos Beltrán played a huge role in it. Thank you, and congratulations sir. You deserve it.번역 보기
