It doesn't matter if this presentation is connected to Brian Greene or not. It is, however, an accurate summary of the paradoxes that make faster than light travel impossible. One other related limitation is that the energy required to achieve faster than light travel, even if possible, would be impossible to carry on any practical space vehicle. Also, the shielding required to protect human astronauts in deep space would make the space craft unable to be maneuvered and would probably kill or permanently injure the astronauts before they completed their journey. Even a space trip to Mars is likely not survivable by any human astronauts without painful disability and permanent injury. The warp system doesn't need to allow FTL, it just needs to reduce the inertia of the spacecraft. As is inter-stellar travel is impossible just from fuel load alone. We can shoot past other stars but the kind of course corrections necessary to remain in their systems is a couple maximum transit masses beyond our capability: it'd make the Vulcan bombing of the runway in the Falklands look like some kids on a bikes bringing a hiker bottles of water.번역 보기
