In my experience, all those parents who say, “My kid is never going to Harvard, Princeton, Yale, or whatever elite school,” deep down know their kids probably wouldn’t have much of a chance of getting accepted in the first place. And if they really think those “liberal colleges” are so terrible, then why do they care so much about them? Meanwhile, Liberty University and other highly conservative schools have acceptance rates around 99%, less selective than some beauty schools. Make no mistake: the connections, prestige, quality of education, professors, and the countless internship and professional opportunities you can get at top-tier universities simply do not compare!!!번역 보기

I am a recently retired professor from a wonderful public university and I can tell you that my students were ALWAYS allowed to say whatever they thought; they could contradict me, etc. as long as they had the facts to back up their positions, their sources were reliable, credible, and were in the center politically (most often from university databases.) Most of my colleagues were also open to discussion and none of us pushed any ideology, religion, etc. I taught expository and creative writing which is all about critical and creative thinking. There were a few times over my long career where a student's research changed my mind on a subject. This is what a liberal arts education is all about. The few instances where a professor riles up his/her students to support a cause has little to do with a true liberal education. Our job is to open minds, not close them. In my 38 years of teaching, I rarely met professors who were ideologues. Most were into research and scientific processes. The greatest problems for higher education today is cost, which even for public universities in the U.S. (often providing a superior education) is way too expensive. I am for tax based public universities which can be supported through higher taxes to corporations and the wealthiest Americans. Also, there are way too many administrators on the scene who are not educators. In truth, all that is necessary is a professor and a student with administrators only in a supportive role. Instead, many times, administrators have become the CEO's and the professor is the worker and the student is the product, especially in private universities.번역 보기
