AR Rahman Has a New Song in My New Movie!

I was fortunate enough to be A.R. Rahman’s photographer many years ago when he was touring the U.S. and performing in Chicago. I remember meeting him at the airport and then basically accompanying him everywhere during his time here. He was genuinely one of the most down-to-earth people I’ve ever worked with. He didn’t speak much and mostly kept to himself, but he was always incredibly kind to me—even though I was constantly following him around with a camera everywhere he went (or at least everywhere he allowed me to go). There’s one night in particular I’ll never forget. It was two nights before the show, and I had spent the entire day photographing A.R. and the other members of the tour. That evening, we all went out for dinner. I was still doing my job, walking around and taking photos of the entourage while we waited for dinner. At one point, A.R. looked at me and told me to sit stop working so hard and sit down with everyone. I looked around the table, but I couldn’t find an empty seat—except for one right next to him. It was probably a seat for his manager or someone else in his inner circle. No way that seat was meant for me. So I told him, “I’ll just sit at the table next to you guys. I don’t see an empty seat for me.” He looked at the seat beside him and said, “But there is. This seat is for you.” That moment has stayed with me all these years. Here was one of the most accomplished musicians in the world, and I was just the photographer following him around with a camera all day. Yet he made sure I knew I wasn’t just there to document everyone else having dinner—I had a place at the table too. That small gesture told me everything I needed to know about the kind of person A.R. Rahman is.번역 보기

That introduction was still an understatement for ARR and kudos to Hasan for pronouncing it as "Thamizh" and not "Tamil". You have my respect!번역 보기
