He's right about the dehumanization. The Israelis encourage dehumanization of Palestinians, as do any other society perpetuating a genocide, but that also leads to rhetoric of dehumanization being normalized in society. Aside from the obvious, we regularly use dehumanizing language about prisoners (criminals, monsters, pedos, etc.), the homeless (bums, etc.), prostitutes (wh*re), women (b*tch), disabled people (cripples, handicapped, mentally ill people (crazy), and drug-users (junkies, crackhead). You don't have to excuse the behaviour of someone to understand the circumstances that lead to them becoming that way. In fact, it's the logical choice since by understanding that you can try to prevent those circumstances from occurring in future. The same dehumanization that leads people to murder people, is the dehumanization that gets used against criminals and other undesirable elements of society and we need to end it. We need to abolish prisons and treat criminal behaviour as a psychological problem otherwise we leave the problem unaddressed and those people will become hardened criminals who learn additional criminal behaviour and be exposed to greater violence in prison. I do think it's a bit out of pocket to suggest that lacking move along orders was the reason people froze to death. The reason they froze to death was because there was a massive blizzard and they didn't have a home to shelter in. If you could resolve the homelessness that would save their lives as well.번역 보기
