Okay, here follows a bit of HI (Human Intelligence 🤓); the other ’Curie-element’ is Radium-226. Not so dangerous as the Polonium, but still…The original Curie-source containing Ra-226 is stored in the Netherlands (at the radioactive waste disposal COVRA). This source radiates so intensily that the dose rate outside of the leadglass is still 25 microSieverts per hour. Marie traveled with this source from Paris to the Kamerlingh Onnes lab in Leiden to research what the effect of the cold on the radioactivity could be (nothing, we now know).
