Watching this at night is so cosy and comforting. In a world full of noise, having no constant music or commentary is blissful ❤번역 보기

Recipes :) Note that these are 200+ year old recipes, meaning that they can be an acquired taste. They are fun to play around with! *Hot Chocolate (The Female Economist, 1810) Ingredients: -2 bars of dark baking chocolate (A typical bar of unsweetened baking chocolate in the United States is 4 ounces x 2 = 8 oz of dark chocolate) -2 cups of water -Milk, as needed -Sugar, to taste Instructions: 1. Chop the chocolate. Cut the chocolate into small pieces. 2. Boil the water. Pour 2 cups of water into a pot and bring it to a boil. 3. Melt the chocolate. Add the chopped chocolate to the boiling water. Remove the pot from the fire and stir or grind the chocolate until it has completely melted. 4. Simmer the chocolate. Return the pot to a gentle fire and boil the mixture. 5. Store it. Pour the chocolate mixture into a basin or bowl and keep it in a cool place. It will keep for eight to ten days. 6. Prepare a cup when desired. Add a spoonful or two of the prepared chocolate mixture to a cup of milk. 7. Heat and sweeten. Bring the milk and chocolate to a boil, add sugar to taste, and whisk or stir thoroughly until well combined. *Johnny Cakes, or Hoe Cakes (American Cookery, 1796) Ingredients: - 3 cups yellow cornmeal - 1 cup milk - ½ cup water 1/3 cup of molasses or honey - Butter, as needed for frying - Salt, to taste Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven or prepare a hearth fire. 2. Scald the milk by heating it until it is very hot but not boiling. 3. Pour the hot milk over the cornmeal and stir to combine. 4. Add the water and mix until you have a thick batter. 5. Shape the mixture into flat cookies. 6. Place them in a 400 degree oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden 7. Traditionally these are served warm with butter and honey *New England Pancakes (A New System of Domestic Cookery, 1810) Ingredients: -2 cups heavy cream -5 tablespoons of all-purpose flour -7 egg yolks -4 egg whites -A small pinch of salt Butter, for frying Sugar and cinnamon, for sprinkling Instructions 1. Make the batter. In a bowl, whisk together the cream, flour, egg yolks, egg whites, and a small pinch of salt until smooth. 2. Heat the butter. Melt a generous amount of butter in a frying pan over medium heat. 3. Fry the pancakes. Pour a small amount of batter into the pan, spreading it into a very thin layer. 4. Cook until set. Once the bottom is lightly golden and the pancake is firm enough to flip, turn it over and cook the other side. 5. Add cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon between each pancake as you stack them. ^ Note that historically pancakes in the 18th and early 19th centuries tended to be much thinner and more eggy than todays, similarly to crepes.번역 보기
