A few weeks ago I released a video sharing the news about my wife's recent cancer diagnosis, in which we asked for help. The support and kindness and generosity has been so overwhelming, we're grateful beyond words. There were so many stories and messages people shared about their own journey or their loved one's journey in the battle with cancer. Reading all of these was so touching and heartbreaking. I knew I wanted to say thank you somehow, for all the kindness and vulnerability shown to us, but didn't know how. I ended putting my emotions into this song, which isn't perfect by any stretch, but it felt like a better way to try and give back and say thank you than just releasing another video talking about it. I hope this song/video brings some encouragement or strength to others dealing with a similarly difficult challenge, and if (or the merch TenHundred and I made) makes any money, 100% of it wil be donated to the Pater Mac Foundation for Cancer Research. The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is internationally recognised for helping to lead the search for cancer cures, so hopefully we can help! Again, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I feel pretty scared posting this to be honest, I haven't recorded or released music in a long time and I'm very aware of all the ways this isn't good enough or is 'cringe' - but at the same time, I believe the best art is honest and sometimes vulnerable, and I believe in embracing that vulnerability in favour of trying and learning.
