How the Island of Bali is running out of petrol #breakingnews #bali #petrol #crisis #indonesia Kilometre-long queues, abandoned motorbikes, and drivers sleeping on tarmac outside petrol stations—this is the reality on the ground in Bali as a sudden island-wide fuel crisis brings traffic in the popular holiday hub to a crawl. The chaos erupted after a single fuel tanker suffered a mechanical anchor failure off the coast, delaying berthing and fuel offloading at a critical terminal. Compounded by seasonal bad weather and viral social media posts triggering widespread panic buying, supplies in major tourist hubs like Denpasar and Badung rapidly ran dry. State energy champion Pertamina has since deployed replacement tankers carrying tens of millions of litres of gasoline and ordered dozens of petrol stations to operate 24 hours a day to clear the backlog. Here is a breakdown of how a single supply chain breakdown stranded thousands of locals and tourists across the island.
