It is a bit exaggerate to say that it can completely see what the hidden state means and what they are doing. J-lens is useful, but it is also admitted that because J-lens maps internal activation directions to individual tokens in the model’s vocabulary. Because of this, it natively misses or struggles to cleanly isolate complex, multi-token concepts, idiomatic phrases, or completely non-verbal abstract structures.
