I love how Werewolf is one of those timeless types of games both because it is only slightly solvable; even one person not acting optimally can completely derail someone's confidence in a strategy, even before we take into account peoples' skill at lying. Additionally, there's an arbitrarily huge number of possible variations of the game, with different numbers of each role, new special roles, and variant rules. For example, I was surprised this treatment of the game didn't include a role (variously named Doctor or Bodyguard, etc), who can secretly choose to 'save' one person each night, if that person happens to be targeted by the werewolves. Many discussions of the game I've seen include this role instead of the Seer, or some in addition to it. I was also surprised that the roles were revealed as the players died. In many variations I've seen, the dead players' roles aren't revealed until there is a win or lose state, easily determined by the werewolf players (if all werewolves are eliminated, they reveal this; if active werewolves outvote villagers, they reveal this instead of voting). Not knowing how you're doing along the way could dramatically change the game. The introduction of weird extra roles can also add some chaos to the play, even if they don't necessarily meaningfully affect the win rate. Roles like the Twins (who always know who each other are and that they are Not Werewolves), the Fox (who wins instead of the normal winner if the game ends with them still in the game), and many others.
