The big issue with borrowing is not the 'principle' of borrowing, nor is it the interest that must be paid, it is that the borrowed money isn't USED for the right things. When a government borrows money, that money should go towards longterm investment with a very significant return. It can't be spent of funding running expenses or on 'comfort' things.번역 보기

If I hated the pension altogether and wanted to eliminate it, the first thing I'd do is convert it in to a 'welfare' program only going to people who 'need' it. Then I could start demagoguing the whole thing saying "You're paying for these benefits, but this program isn't for you." That works very effectively in the US, creating a universal resentment of anyone poorer than oneself, and it empowers politicians, when the overton window comes in just right, to start wiping things out. I understand the liberal sentiment to pay benefits only to the needy. That way lies hell.번역 보기
