If you find someone with a CB or if you have a highway with a truck stop along it... id go put up flyers at the truck stop asking if anyone wants some company on an east bound drive to get this dog to his home. A call over a CB for a few days... might be able to secure him a ride in an 18 wheeler immediately or the same day! Im sure if you got the dog within a few hours of his family, theyd be willing to drive the few hours to reunite with their best friend .. and won't the dog be happy to see them! Please take pictures when that happens. But id suggest thatd be the least expensive and most effective way to get a dog across the country...where hed have constant attention and a human caretaker to hang out with on the way...and wouldn't be treated like luggage aboard a plane or bus...because although a flight is faster, that just sucks...being locked in a crate with no people around and only strangers as far as the eye can see and for a couple thousand miles. So get him in a tractor trailer with a nice truck driver who wouldn't mind being a foster for just the trip east. Maybe they could even meet up again if its cool with the dogs family and if the dog and trucker get along pretty well. Besides, what a trip for a dog to see the united states on his way back to his family and new home! Good luck. I used to hitchhike back in the 90s... and when i was in my late teens and early 20s. Most truck drivers are very nice and would bend over backwards to help anyone out. I bet they'll be arguing about who will be the lucky truck driver to take the dog home! There are a few strange ones, so if you meet the driver and get a bad feeling, just make an excuse and keep looking for someone you feel good about and get the truck info and a copy of the drivers license of the driver along with a signed agreement saying hes going to take the dog home and has permission to transport the dog from here to there. And get his cell phone number and give him the families number so they can coordinate a meeting place and date and time. Thats that! I cant think of anything easier .. but send the dog with a blanket and brush and some food and food dish and water bowl and a collar and leash at least.. and remind the driver to attach the leach and be sure he has ahold of it before opening up the truck door... so the dog does not run away again! He obviously did it once or he wouldn't have been left behind...so thats important to do every time to make sure the dog makes it to the destination. You could offer the driver some money but I bet they dont take it .. that would depend if theyre working regularly...its hard for everyone these days...so idk for sure.
