I have a friend that retired as a Nat Geo photographer. Clearly he was amazing. One of the things he said to me that stuck was this (Not exact, but really close.). "Sometimes it seems like there is a universal language with ALL species. Because I've noticed that all animals I have shot act differently when I have my cameras on my person vs when I do not have my cameras. Some years ago I had my tripod set up in the woods, waiting for a deer to come through some brush about 30 feet ahead of me, but that deer was taking its time. I waited, and finally I saw the brush move and the deer left without me getting a good look. I sighed, turned to take my camera down, and discovered five deer standing about 10 feet behind me, just watching me. They didn't even run away until I started to point the camera at them.
