I'm 17 minutes in and glad that Ezra did an episode on this topic... but I feel like this woman was not the right choice for it. She doesn't seem very tuned in to the more general discourse about this topic that Ezra is referring to. Most people are talking about that "flatness" to public life that he mentions. The last time we had a discernable style was the 80's...the 90's barely hung on to a look. After that the internet and globalisation flattened the world. There are styles now but they are trends that come and go very fast, vs every decade of the 20th century, which had a discernable look and feel. And now? Minimalist Managerial. Efficiency is the opposite of experience...I am convinced that the low-hum of depression in modern life has a lot to do with our surroundings; this is one reason I think Europe has a mass tourism problem; People desperately looking for old-world texture, the subtext of which is story... which is uniquely human.번역 보기
