In early November 1944, they were captured by German forces. They were taken to Berlin for interrogation and later transferred to the Flossenbürg concentration camp. Although no official execution record has ever been found, historians generally agree that both Golian and Viest were executed by the SS at Flossenbürg, most likely in February 1945, shortly before the end of the war.
